I've been scraping all morning and thought I should take a quick break to share this mixed media page I finished. Of course being February I thought this picture was a perfect one to scrap and share.
I find it helpful to let the picture I'm scraping determine the paint colors I will use on the background, now with that said I'm still very new to this process! I pulled colors in tan, blue and red but as you can see once its on the page the colors are more of a cream, blue and pink... but I stayed calm and carried on. I think in the end everything still goes together nicely... I think lol. Anyways since the paint dried a little more pink than red I added some striped strips to the top and bottom of my page. I forgot how much I liked that look and will be doing that on a lot more of my pages. You may notice on the upper right corner of the strip and bottom left corner I didn't run the strip all the way off the page. I got that idea from watching MercyTiara's YouTube videos. She says its a great way to add subtle interest and I couldn't agree more. I've also been adding more tissue paper to the back of my pictures which is an idea I got from Missy Whidden another YouTube favorite of mine.
I really wanted the mixed media to shine on this page so I didn't use a ton of embellishments. The "Why, Hello My Dear" stickers that I used as my title and the "Happy Day" as well as the "Love You So Much" stickers are from Crate Paper Maggie Holmes Bloom collection. The "Happy Day" sticker originally had the fish tale on the other side but because of where I wanted to use it on my layout I cut it off the left side and created one on the right. The super cute floral wreath sticking out of the right and left side of my picture is from The Paper Studio Stickabilities collection of faith phrases and the hearts scattered around on the page are from my stash. I wish I could tell you where I got the black and white text paper I used that so perfectly matched the theme of my page, but unfortunately I have no idea where I got it from. I know I have had it for a long time so it isn't from a new release this year.
Well I hope this page inspired you to create something and for a challenge I challenge you to use some mixed media on your next layout. Let me know how it goes. Please leave me a comment if you have any questions and I will happily respond.
